Update on Senate Bill 78

TIGER PRIDE MEMBERS!
ACTION REQUIRED!

Anti-union Senate Bill 78 will be taken up again next Thursday, Feb. 18, in the Senate Rules Committee. This bill has ben fast-tracked from the start and this is the last committee stop before it goes to the Senate floor. This is a bill that would require management, for the first time ever, to verify your decision to join your union. It would also require you to rejoin your union at least every three years, maybe annually. This is just one more unneeded and unwanted layer of red tape to thwart us from exercising our freedoms. We don’t need the governmental oversight.

Please contact the members of the committee before next week’s meeting and ask your members, friends, colleagues and family to act as well. You can find the action link here:

Contact members of the Senate Rules committee re: SB 78

Please share this information with friends, co-workers and family and urge ALL OF THEM to contact not only the Senate Rules Committee, but local Senators as well.

THE FINAL DECISION WILL AFFECT US ALL – UNION MEMBERS OR NOT!

If there is no Bargaining Agent (USEP, for Pasco County) to advocate for employees, the contract we have worked so hard to protect for over 40 years disappears. The settlement we just negotiated, with a 3% raise across the board – it doesn’t happen. SRP getting moved to the $10 /hr. minimum – doesn’t happen. The “Free to the employee health plan” – gone! Dual Enrollment teachers would have received a cut of ½ -⅔ of their anticipated salary for this year. Non-classroom teachers would not have had an advocate.

USEP is your advocate! We are the organization that bridges the gap between employer and employee in Pasco District Schools. Please help us get this message out. Please join with us as we advocate for Public Education and YOUR FUTURE! Join USEP now!
