2024-2025 Instructional Check Dates

The below information was shared with USEP members via email on May 17, 2024.

May 15, 2024 at the Bargaining table, USEP and the District finalized a plan to resolve a dilemma caused by the original 2024-2025 PAY DATE & DEDUCTIONS CALENDAR. The District’s original plan called for a break of four (4) weeks in between the last pay date of the 2023-2024 school year (August 2, 2024) and the first pay date of the 2024-2025 school year (August 30, 2024) for those employees on the year-round pay schedule. This calendar was drawn up based on the 10-day turnaround time needed for District to process existing payroll and to make sure all new employees are entered into the system.

This original configuration would have left employees with four (4) weeks in between paychecks at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. There was also no District-wide communication to employees sent out to address this matter.

USEP contacted the Superintendent about this predicament, and he directed senior staff to work with USEP to work out a solution to this problem. The agreement between USEP and District calls for a unique situation to take place for this ONE-YEAR-ONLY agreement.

Instead of being paid in 26 equal paychecks employees on the 600 Calendar will receive 27 equal paychecks, beginning on August 23 (a regular paycheck) and then again on August 30 (a regular paycheck). The remainder of the original 600 Calendar schedule pay dates will remain the same as the original notification.

Due to the addition of a 27th paycheck, and with all paychecks being equal, there will be a slight decrease in the actual amount you will receive in each paycheck (approximately 3%), but know that you will receive 27 checks instead of 26, you get back-to-back checks on August 23 and 30, 2024, and you will receive the total amount of pay, your Referendum Salary Supplement, and all applicable advanced degree supplements due to you. In addition, the August 23, 2024, paycheck will be a “skip” check (minus benefit deductions, if applicable), for affected employees. With this agreement, employees will get more money sooner.

While this may not be a perfect solution, USEP appreciates the District collaborating with us to put more money in employees’ pockets at the beginning of the year, making the first check of the year a “skip” check, and eliminating the four (4) week break in future pay dates.
